Tool Making
refers to the production of the tools or jigs and fixtures that are required for sheet metal forming and which are – generally speaking – both costly and complex. Thanks to these tools, parts can be produced quickly and cost-effectively once a certain minimum quantity is exceeded. The tools are primarily used to produce three-dimensional drawn and formed parts, although sometimes two-dimensional cut parts as well.
In-house Tool Production
At our tool shop, we custom-produce the tools that are required for achieving a form of mass production that is not only high quality but also cost-effective and fast at the same time.
Here, our trained toolmakers (known as “polymechanics” in Switzerland) use high-precision CNC-controlled machine tools to refine the results until they create the ideal product. With their wealth of experience, they assist our design team with the development process and rework the tools until they are absolutely perfect. This means that we are able to respond quickly and flexibly to every customer need.
Techniques:
- Wire or die sinking
- Surface grinding
- CNC milling
- Turning
By the way, we have invested in a new 2-axis lathe from DMG MORI. With it, our toolmakers can produce more complex tools much more efficiently.
